FAQ about Google Earth ( Read First! )
|
|
Google Earth streams the world over wired and wireless networks enabling users to virtually go anywhere on the planet and see places in photographic detail. This is not like any map you have ever seen. This is a 3D model of the real world, based on real satellite images combined with maps, guides to restaurants, hotels, entertainment, businesses and more. You can zoom from space to street level instantly and then pan or jump from place to place, city to city, even country to country.
Important: Below are some interesting points of interest for you to explore in your Badinger Google Earth virtual tour. Click on "Load KMZ" if you wish to fly to these places in Google Earth. You must have Google Earth installed in order to be able to load these KMZ files. Be sure to "zoom" in and also try the "tilt" feature. Send me any more Badinger points of interest that you have found and I will list them - Have fun!
Google Earth Easter Egg: A Flight Simulator! How to use this feature: Make sure you have Google Earth 4.2 (or later). To enter the flight simulator mode, press Ctrl + Alt + A (Command + Option + A on the Mac). Once you have entered flight simulator mode for the first time, you can re-enter the mode by choosing Tools > Enter Flight Simulator. You should see a dialog box that lets you choose one of the two aircrafts (F16 "Viper" and SR22) and an airport or to start from your current view.
Use your mouse or a joystick (or your keyboard arrow keys - if you are very steady) to guide your plane. View and download the [ Flight Control PDF ] for the full Flight Simulator Keyboard Controls. Now load up Google Earth. Go to the Swansea KMZ listed below, or any of the listings and get ready to "feel like your flying..."

If you traveled to Swansea by rail, Ivey Place would be the first Badinger location you would see as it is directly opposite the train station. Whilst driving home after a gig, the Wild Ones bassist, Ron Griffiths spotted the sign and suggested it as a name for the band. The Grand Hotel is the only building therein. Tom, Joey and Bob stayed here during the Man/Badinger British tour of 1974. --Keith James | Ivey Place ~ Swansea

Kudos to Keith James
This page is dedicated to all the work that Keith James has done to catalog and present the 'places of interest' for Badinger and Iveys fans in his many published works. I was inspired by all the photos he presented in The Iveys File: Where Do We Go From Here?, The Iveys Swansea, The Townhill Boy, and The Iveys London.
With Keith's blessing to continue on what he started and the 'free' Google Earth software, we have a very 'cool' new way to view some of those 'places of interest!' Thanks Keith! Keith James' Chinese Whispers CD cover photo. Copyright © 2000 |
